Santa Clarita Transit (Continued)

Its been almost 24 hours and still only digital comms. Considering Henry Mayo went to NEXEDGE almost two years ago I’m guessing thats what this is too. It’s also probably safe to assume since Santa Clarita Transit has switched – Dial-A-Ride and City Hall including the EOC have as well. I will do further research and post my findings at a later time.

Cant confirm until tomorrow but I am hearing bursts of digital modulation, likely NEXEDGE, on Santa Clarita Transit’s frequency.

The Great California Shake-Out

A statewide earthquake drill better known as ‘The Great California Shake-Out’ is currently taking place. So far I have found no new frequencies related to the drill. LA County Fire made the announcement on Blue 8 then switched all traffic to Blue 4. Standard earthquake traffic was noted on Blue 4 along with simplex traffic between Battalion 6 and Engine 73. The Newhall School District did a district wide roll call and each school provided a sitrep on the district frequency 463. 7000 D624. No drill related comms were heard on Hart High, Cal Arts or Masters College frequencies.

461.4875 D072 Mystery Solved

Back in June I posted to SoCalScan about a mystery school on 461.4875 D072. The unknown users mentioned dorms, a football team and tennis courts. Only a couple of schools are licensed on this frequency in Los Angeles County, none of which are within 15 miles of Newhall. Well last night the channel became very active as the security detail attempted to track down an alarm sounding somewhere on the campus, after a half hour they discovered the alarm was coming from “further down Placerita Canyon” and as of two minutes ago an unknown person called security on the frequency asking why the fire department was out front, AMR responded to a medical call on Placerita Canyon across from Masters College. Master’s College is located on Placerita Canyon, has dorms, a flag football team and tennis courts. 461.4875 D072 is being used by Master’s College Security.

Westfield – Valencia Town Center Mall (Update)

Made another trip over to the mall and hung out for a bit, got my walk on. Had lunch in the food court and noticed a considerable amount of co-channel interference from the shopping centers on adjacent corners. Caught a couple more freqs and made some new notations on some old ones.

*I noticed they no longer use contract guard services in the parking structures, they’re wearing Westfield patches and driving Westfield trucks and I have not heard security activity on this channel in a while, it might be a seasonal thing. I did hear other Ops like traffic on it today, so I will do another update when the holidays roll around.

**They’re calling this channel ‘Maintenance’ over the radio and though most of their work is on the elevators in the parking structure they do work in the main building as well.

***This is how its labeled on the license, usually all that’s heard is telemetry, they might still be using the D411 tone.
