THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE – SEQUOIA AND KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARKS. AN AVALANCHE WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE SIERRA NEVADA IN SEQUOIA AND KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARKS. CONTINUED STRONG WINDS AND HEAVY SNOW HAVE CREATED A HIGH AVALANCHE DANGER. NATURAL AND HUMAN TRIGGERED AVALANCHES ARE LIKELY. BACKCOUNTRY TRAVELERS SHOULD AVOID ALL AVALANCHE TERRAIN…ESPECIALLY STEEP SLOPES WITH RECENT DEPOSITS OF WIND DRIFTED SNOW. THE AVALANCHE WARNING SHOULD CONTINUE THROUGH THE WEEKEND. THIS WARNING DOES NOT INCLUDE SKI AREAS OR HIGHWAYS WHERE AVALANCHE CONTROL IS NORMALLY DONE.
